A Wide Range of Applications
With over 20
individually configurable modules, the Horizon EME provides a host
of advanced event-based applications such as dispatch, GPS/AVL,
mobile data, schedule adherence, and remote site monitoring.
True Multi-Departmental Capability
All applications in
the Horizon EME are individually and dynamically customizable on a
user-by-user, department-by-department, and
jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis to reflect different workflows,
data requirements, missions, responsibilities and needs.
One
Point of Entry, One Point of Access
The Horizon EME
provides a unified platform or “environment”, within which
applications can intelligently share data and distribute information
wherever it’s required, throughout and between different users and
departments, using both traditional and wireless networks.
Integration with Third-Party Systems
The Horizon EME is
an open system, designed to integrate seamlessly with third-party
technologies, and enabling transparent sharing of information
between the EME and outside applications, databases, and remote
systems. This includes GPS and GIS systems, Record Management
Systems, alarm monitoring receivers, digital voice loggers, billing
systems, and many more.
Optimized for Distributed Computing
The EME’s highly
advanced and versatile client-server architecture is optimized to
provide distributed computing solutions over low bandwidth
connections. Different applications and system components are able
to access information from many different sources and across many
different networks simultaneously. |

Powerful Self-Customization Capability
The EME’s intuitive
GUI-based Configuration Module enables administrators to dynamically
customize, update and control all aspects of system security, look
and feel, data and workflow, on a user-by-user, group-by-group,
department-by-department, and jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis.
This ensures the system’s ability to reflect each department’s
evolving needs, and avoids forced reliance on the vendor.
Open, Standard Architecture
The EME is a fully
COTS system, designed in Visual C++ and utilizing common, industry
standard conventions (ODBC, XML, HTML, TCP/IP, SQL, and others). The
EME runs on standard “Wintel” infrastructure (Intel-based PC’s,
Windows 2000/XP), and utilizes standard “enterprise”-level DBMS,
such as MS SQL Server. This ensures an open, scalable and
extensible system that can be easily integrated with your existing
and future installed base of third-party technologies.
Reliable, Secure, and Safe
The EME is an
extremely robust mission critical system, in service with a number
of public safety, transit, and other agencies throughout North
America. In addition to its inherent stability, the EME can be
configured on a range of fault tolerant hardware systems
to ensure
full data redundancy and failover protection.
The EME features a
graduated username/password log-on schema that enables
administrators to set individual user permissions, and to restrict
access to sensitive information and functions. The system also
records what actions are taken by what user, at what time, to
provide a full time-stamped audit trail. This provides full control
over system and data access, ensuring that each user is presented
with an EME configuration appropriate to their needs and
responsibilities.
