A Progressive Community
served by a Progressive Department
Known as the Capital of Cape Cod, Hyannis is
a world famous tourist destination that serves as the region's hub for
commerce, fishing, and transportation. Established in 1896, the Hyannis Fire
District covers a diverse area split roughly 60/40 between commercial and
residential. The area boasts extensive infrastructure, including a large
hospital, extensive harbor, and bustling airport - not to mention the famed
Kennedy Compound. All this combined with a population that expands
dramatically during the busy Summer months makes Hyannis Fire and Rescue one of the
busiest departments on the Cape. |
|
New CAD Provides
More Flexibility, Enhanced Capabilities, Better Intelligence
It was the desire to better manage the diverse and heavy call
volume that originally led Hyannis to make the move to computer aided
dispatching. However while the existing CAD had served them well, it
couldn’t easily adapt to the department’s changing needs, nor scale up
to address periods of peak demand.
One key capability Hyannis required was the ability to pinpoint 911
calls from cell phones something that provides crucial response data
at a time when more emergency calls than ever before are made using
mobile devices.
Hyannis also recognized that having the CAD be able to instantly
access the detailed pre-fire plans and other premise information
stored in FIREHOUSE® RMS was another powerful tool that could have a
direct impact on operations. Now when a call comes in, personnel have
one point of access to all sorts of information about the incident
location - floor plans, contact info, HAZMAT, burn permits, and much
more. Once the call is over, the data collected in the CAD is
cross-populated to the RMS, simplifying important post-incident
activities such as reporting, payroll, statistical analysis, and
billing.

|
Choosing Symposium -
Reputation and Responsiveness
Hyannis chose Symposium because of the company's proven track
record of delivering top-notch results for clients of all sizes and
requirements. With many Symposium installations throughout the State, it was
easy for Hyannis to confirm how well the system works, and how happy other
departments are with the service and support Symposium provides.
Another more long-term factor had to do with the ability to change and grow.
Because Symposium designed the EME with the flexibility to incorporate
changing technology and evolving missions, Hyannis will remain at the
forefront of emergency response capability for the foreseeable future, without
having to change system or provider.
|
|
More Good Things to
Come
Going forward, Hyannis is considering implementing
Symposium's powerful EM Mobile Data to deliver instant real-time
access to all relevant incident information directly to the vehicles.
This will give front-line personnel even better access to important
data, and will result in even more enhancements to speed, safety, and
effectiveness.

Symposium
Technologies Provides New Dispatch Solution for Dedham Fire Department
|
| Project Highlights: |
|
| Serving
densely-populated Greater Boston-area community |
Real-time Integration with FIREHOUSE® RMS |

A Modern Department with
Strong Traditions
Settled in 1635, prosperous and densely-populated Dedham is among
the oldest towns in the Northeast and the seat of Norfolk County, which is
second only to Boston itself in terms of population. Dedham Fire Department
has a long and storied tradition of professionalism and service. Now, with the
implementation of Symposium’s Horizon EME, they`re enlisting 21st-century
technology to help write a new chapter in community protection and public
safety.
Dedham invested a significant amount of time exploring how they could use new
technologies to help them respond faster, safer, and more effectively. They
wanted the ability to detect danger more quickly, to use information better,
and to distribute situational intelligence more efficiently. And, like many
other departments throughout Massachusetts and the Northeast, Dedham reached
the conclusion that Symposium’s Horizon EME was just the system they needed to
help them take operations to the next level. |
|
Seamless Integration of CAD,
e911 and RMS
Dedham’s new Horizon EME dispatch solution
integrates with Phase II 911, providing detailed and accurate
positional info about the location of mobile callers – something
that departments across the nation are racing to implement.
Dedham’s new system also integrates fully with the department’s
FIREHOUSE® Software RMS, meaning that each premise’s pre-fire plans,
HAZMAT, contact info, and other information is available directly in
the dispatch system. As the incident progresses, all the
response-based information and benchmarks recorded in the EME
automatically flow back to FIREHOUSE®, simplifying reporting and
statistical analysis.
Going forward, Dedham has the option to implement Symposium’s EM
Mobile Data system, making all CAD and RMS-based info available in
the trucks on a GPS-enabled map-based display that gives responding
personnel instant access to all available incident information.

|
Choosing Symposium - Proven
Track Record, Proven Solutions, Future Growth
Symposium’s success with other departments
throughout the region combined with the solution’s proven performance were the
keys to Dedham’s decision to adopt the EME. And going forward there’s added
potential for the EME’s open-ended design to help enhance operations through
integration with radio consoles, alarm monitoring receivers, CCTV, and other
systems.
Regardless of the shape and direction of future needs, Dedham fire can look
forward to enjoying the same high levels of performance and support that other
Symposium clients have come to expect and enjoy. The combination of top-notch
technology and industry-leading service and support result in a solution that
works on ALL levels, giving Dedham a powerful new resource that’s as easy to
use and own as it is to implement. |
